The journey of the education system in NRTC began in September 1992 under the Telephone Industry of Pakistan (TIP), after completion of the building where NRTC Girls College stands today.

Telecom Boys Public School started on 1st September 1992 and was affiliated with BISE Abbottabad on 30th November 1993. Intermediate classes began in August 1994 and the college was reaffiliated in 1995.

The school operated under TIP and Colony Board until 30th June 2016. Afterwards, NRTC officially took over supervision on 1st July 2016.

In April 2017, NRTC Public School & College for Girls was founded in the same premises where NRTS PS&C for Boys previously operated.

The Boys College was temporarily shifted to the Apprentice Hostel on 26th April 2017, and then moved back to the old school building opposite the mosque in August 2018.

In 2022, the Boys College was relocated again into retrofitted buildings adjacent to the NRTC Girls College, marking another milestone in NRTC’s educational journey.
